Last weekend, after a long day, I checked into an apartment in East Legon, hoping to get some rest.
Just as I was about to sleep, a loud voice filled the space ,
a lady on a call, speaking at the top of her voice… for over 30 minutes.
What struck me wasn’t just the noise,
but the lack of awareness.
It made me reflect on something we often overlook —
social sense.
The ability to understand your environment
and adjust your behavior accordingly.
Not every space is yours alone.
Not every place allows for the same expression.
There is a way to behave in shared spaces,
in workplaces, in church, and in public.
Awareness is wisdom.
The Bible says,
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
And truly, a lack of awareness can destroy relationships,
create conflict, and reflect a lack of maturity.
Respect is not outdated.
Courtesy is not weakness.
And wisdom is not optional.
Social intelligence means you are mindful of your words, your tone, your volume, and your presence.
It is not just about being heard,
but knowing when and how to be heard.
Let us grow in awareness.
Let us walk in wisdom.
Because how you carry yourself in different environments
speaks louder than what you say.
